Book Description
This volume contains 2 separate books about the Teradata Database.

The first book introduces the subject and describes how a massively parallel architecture is used to efficiently store, retrieve and process the huge volumes of data needed to drive many of the world's largest business enterprises. The book is presented in a manner likely to appeal to technical and non--technical readers alike.

As the first in a series of "How to" books, it touches on a number of topics more fully detailed in the other books of the series, and should be required reading for management, operations and programming staff, or anyone involved with the Teradata Database at any level

The Teradata Database - SQL is designed for application designers, and anyone with a compelling need to discover how to extract useful intelligence from massive volumes of data. In particular, this book addresses the 1997 Version 2, Release 2 software by which the Teradata Database deftly adopts ANSI-standard SQL, while still retaining its popular traditional values.

By loading the "Classics" database (distributed as a BTEQ script) on a pre-existing Teradata system, the reader will be able to reproduce and experiment with the more than 200 examples and practical exercises referenced throughout the book.
