Reviews Amazon.com Follow this book's schedule, and by Sunday evening, you can have a home page that's ready to be uploaded. The five-lesson process begins on Friday night with the basics: HTML, URLs, domain names, and browsers. On Saturday, you'll learn basic and intermediate HTML with the book's tutorials and, on Sunday morning, you'll plan and organize your site. The book continues to train you in HTML and Web mechanics while you assemble your page, but you won't find many graphic design tips. Although this guide is designed to be used over a weekend, it provides useful resources to consult even after your page is up and running. A bundled CD-ROM contains basic Web page examples and tools, including HTML and graphics editors, WinZip, and an image-map creation application. Excellent appendices list valuable Web design tools and offer instructions for putting your page online, a tutorial on tables, and tips on getting your site noticed. The guide's one weakness is its brief treatment of how to get your pages hosted by a service provider or online service. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
